Eternal Ring, is not Directly related to the Kings Field series, but it does have two common elements, the gameplay, and the company that created it (From Software). Other than that, this should be looked upon as another series, like the Shadow Tower Series.
In Eternal Ring you start out as Cain, a young soldier who was sent to 'the island of no return' to fetch a relic called the Eternal Ring, you'll start out on the beach, and need to make your way to the base camp, where you real journey will begin.
Weapons
Kings Field type games are well known for the large quantity of weapons you can find throughout the game, however in Eternal Ring that idea is reversed, there are only a few 'swords' in the game, but there are dozens of Magic Rings.
Magic
Another change from the Kings Field games, but more related to the Shadow Tower games is that rather than learning magic from crystals, you'll have to equip rings to use the spells they are imbued with, you'll find a single Fireball ring in your first dungeon, after that you'llhave to start making rings by using Magic Rings with Elemental gems (Leaf, Forest, Flame, Sky ect.).
Music
The Musical scores in Eternal Ring are actually pretty nice, they give you a pleasant sense of your surroundings, which can be quite erie when you're fighting a boss or are fighting with monsters. In addition, the Characters speak, in like they did in Shadow Tower.
Pricing
I found this game Used for $4. If you liked Kings Field and Shadow Tower, then you should definately pick this one up. It's game-span however was shorter than Kings Field was.
